published on: 07 October 2024 last updated on: 14 November 2024

You will scarcely find smart small living room ideas with TV anywhere. Decorating around your TV can be the trickiest part of your home decor.

So, most people leave that space blank. Or use whimsical decor like RGB strips that only light up during the dark. For the rest of the day, it is as bland as it would be without it.

So, let’s twist our ideas now. First, check if you placed the TV in the right place. Do not worry; I will share some cool placement ideas, too. After that, it’s time to check out how the wall behind your Tv complements its presence.

If it looks naturally classy, that’s all right. But if it doesn’t, you can also implement these fantastic gallery wall ideas .

Main highlights from the article:

  • Choose the right furniture that complements your TV
  • Be safe; don’t buy blue, teal, cyan, or such colored TVs
  • Be very careful about ambient lighting surrounding your TV
  • The wall accent or texture matters
  • Wall mounting should be seamless; a hanging wire mesh ruins the look and feel.

Small living room ideas with TV

TV is the most highlighted gadget to have in your room. We use it optimally. Besides, we always have a TV in our living room only. The other gadgets or furniture can be placed in different rooms. But not your TV.

That is why we need creative wall-mounting ideas. At the same time, we need creative wall decor for the mounting wall. The best would be an open, home-theatre-like ambiance in a spacious living room.

But most of my readers search for small living room ideas. So, it is apparent that we need to create a harmonious home environment to optimize our living space artistically.

Firstly, we need utility areas around the couch or a small lounge area. Then we need an open space for entry and exit from the other rooms. Remember, the living room is the centerpiece of attraction in your apartment.

So, if you are ready to apply practical designs and transform your limited space into a sophisticated and comfy living room, here’s how:

1. A vertical wall mount for a sassy interior

I know your apartment living room is barely 16×14. But that’s no problem. Start with creating a vertical wooden TV mount. It’s better if the mount is around the center.

On one side, there will be the TV mount. On the other side of the mount, there can be a cabinet or a display showcase to change the look and feel of your living room.

A 70-inch wide wall mount is just fine for the cause. And I feel it’s best to refrain from experimenting with colors. The best combination is white walls and a slate or space black TV.

More than 60% of Americans prefer bezel-less TVs. So, your TV would otherwise also look black. And nothing complements it better than a white wall.

Some people prefer a minimalist TV cabinet below the TV on the wall. It’s better if the TV cabinet is wall-mounted, too. You can place the wireless connections, a soundbar, your connectables, and other gadgets.

The couch or the whole lounge area can surround the TV wall. On the other hand, there will be mainly utility space. So, don’t keep any eating area on the other side.

It is only common for people to like to watch TV while sitting and chilling in the living room.

How did I design my room with this idea?

I implemented the same idea in my living area. That’s why I could drag down the discussion to the minutest details. The part of my room facing the TV is the same as I described.

The other half of my room has two plants in the right corner. The other corner of the room has an angular hanging display space.

Adjacent to it is a minimalist wardrobe and a vase flaunted on top. The rest of the space is empty for free commuting between rooms. I hope my readers already know I’m a fan of minimalist ideas.

2. Open Shelving for a BIG TV in a Small Room

Some of my friends love flaunting their small home theater set-up. I can loathe such ideas as much as I like. But I can’t replicate those in my apartment living room.

So, I tried to implement my innovative space-saving living room ideas. That’s when Open Shelving occurred to me.

I removed the traditional console that was placed on a wall mount. I also got rid of the extra cabinet that I had beneath my TV.

And then I did what I had been waiting to do for long. I ordered a 50-inch 4K TV from Amazon. By the time the TV came, the whole room was almost vacant.

What remained was my sofa lounge space. And a small ottoman in front of it. I also brought a shallow granite table. It placed the table adjacent to the opposite wall.

Now my sofa is placed, grazing one wall. The table is adjacent to the opposite wall. I planted the TV directly on the wall just above the table.

Change in Decor after introducing TV in my Room.

Now, my TV adds a statement look to the macrame wall on all four walls. I could have applied cosy grey living room ideas too. I preferred gray over white and macrame for my living room, too.

But the white-macrame shade added a separate elegance to my room. But you can go with accent walls, texture effects on walls, or a classy Ombre effect. The choice is yours.

I suggest opting for light or boho-neutral shades only. You can apply these shades on the wall where the TV is mounted. For the other walls, you may choose dynamic designs. Check my other blogs for unique living room paint ideas.

3. Smart TV cabinets for the classic Furniture Lovers

Do you have an elongated bookshelf or wardrobe? It can be your media console as well. Let me share an idea that I liked from the last week.

I visited an expo where I bumped into this classic display. The bookshelf had transparent doors. I could see the classy and eclectic arrangement of showpieces and books inside. On top of the furniture, there was a 40-inch TV.

Here, I am talking about a 14×18 room. It is as good as an apartment living room only. Other designers say the idea would look great in a bigger living room.

I also believe the same.

For small living rooms, placing an extravagant bookshelf can be stressful. So you can choose a different wardrobe to go with your TV. I also prefer a one-side-mounted wardrobe that looks elegant in a small room.

You will place the TV on the shallow surface of the wardrobe cabinet. The shelves can be used in various ways. You can also set up a small table or ottoman beside the TV cabinet.

Now you have to place your TV comfortably. You also have a spacious cabinet to go with it. So, you don’t need any other storage furniture in the same room. Instead, you can think about a seating area now.

A classic L-shaped lounge sofa would be just great. You can get such sofas from Amazon, IKEA, and other sites. Prices generally start from $300.

4. Small living room ideas with tv and a cute fireplace

The best you can wish for is a fireplace in your apartment’s living room. Having a TV with a small cabinet in addition to it is indeed a great deal. But thoughtful planning can make it possible, too.

I had many small living room ideas with TV. However, none can match the concept’s elegance, including a fireplace.

Many designers say that rooms with fireplaces should look classy and sorted. But I say a little messy room also adds to the vintage elegance of the room.

Here’s how I visualize it:

  • One of the more enormous walls of the rectangular room split into 2
  • The fireplace is on one side of it
  • On the other half of the wall, there is a wall-mounted TV
  • A small TV cabinet (a shallow one) to go with it, placed beneath the TV (preferably 40 to 43 inches)
  • There is a center table placed slightly to the right side of the room (the side of the wall holding the TV)
  • An L-shaped sofa grazes the opposite wall, facing the TV directly.
  • Two armchairs or one chair and one ottoman facing the fireplace.

Ready for a Makeover??

I shared multiple small living room ideas with TV here. Now you can decide which one you like best. I tried all these ideas and tried them in my room, too. So, you can trust my instincts.

The average investment for each decor is between $500 to $1000. A TCL or Sony TV would cost under $400. The sofa will cost under $350. You can then spare around $200 for the cabinet, chairs, ottoman and miscellaneous.

Comment below if you need small living room ideas with tv under $500. All the best for your living room makeover!!
