In the US, 42% of millennials buy their own homes. And most of them prefer boho living room ideas. Boomers also love boho layering with accent ideas for their living rooms. But why?

Boho designs are light and fun-oriented. Boho living room ideas are minimalistic, as most people love it. However, various rustic elements make it popular among abstract lovers as well.

Boho has emerged as one of the modern trendsetters in the domain of living room designs. So, let’s check out the most popular Boho ideas around.

Boho art uses symmetric designs with diversions in the forms. That’s why we have boho chic, traditional boho-themed living rooms and modern boho. All the designs have their fan base. But I find most people loving the modern boho designs.

These Things Make Boho Unique

There are specific patterns that make Boho unique. Firstly, it is a short form of Bohemian living art. So, the rustic styles, originally a part of the Bohemian lifestyle, will also find a place in the boho decor.

At the same time, the exotic use of colors also marks boho living room ideas. Not only colors. You will also find unique patterns and textures in most boho-themed living rooms.

Most designers say all apartment living room ideas should have at least one boho element. They want boho styles as they create an inviting undertone in your dorm.

Examples of Boho sensations

A whole boho living room is an elegant exaggeration of your lifestyle. Here, I will share excerpts from an ideal boho room decor. You can use any of these ideas to create a spark in your interiors:

Imagine a patterned wall. The base is white. Additionally, there are red and canary yellow marble finish strokes. At the same time, there is a color-blocked accent wall. Or you can also think of an Ombre effect on one of the walls.

Now, coming to the vibrant side of the boho decor. To add to that, we need velvet chairs with inviting accents. I feel cyan, pink, teal, or yellow could be delicate, inviting chair colors.

While chairs can be vibrant, sofas better not be. Boho’s designs maintain minimalism by including a solid piece of essential furniture. So, keep your sofa as that piece for you. I feel a classic leather sofa would be great.

You will love a celestial, pristine white finish on your sofa If you have authentic minimalist living room ideas. Often people don’t like the whites for their sofa. They may choose teal gray or slate gray.

If you don’t know if a color matches the boho palette, you can comment your queries in the comment section.

Plants add an edge, too.

When thinking of boho decor, you cannot keep plants away. Plants add the brightest accent to your basic minimalist decor. Imagine a boho room that is based on plants as a decor element.

The room is painted macrame or white. There are white textures, and one of the walls has an accent of white. Now, what will be an ideal decor element for that room?

How many of you thought of plants mainly? Not many, I suppose. That’s natural.

Well, to be precise, the plants are not the only thing that can complete your decor. It would help if You also had a rug to live up to the boho aura. But an intricate design on rugs would be great.

Boho art can be displayed well on rugs. Rugs have the highest exposure in your room compared to anything else. That’s why your boho decor is incomplete without that finesse of rugs.

However, I added rugs to the discussion to create a decent color effect with plants and rugs. Plants bring in the accent green in the white room. But rugs are mostly multi-colored.

I saw intricate designs of blue knitwork on a yellow and red base. Boho rugs are that much more colorful. Now, you can imagine the ascent that such a rug adds to the white interior.

How do plants change the decor?

Plants soften and modify the sharp looks that rugs bring in. For example, if you see a carpet like that, it will grab all your attention. But plants divert your attention towards them.

Imagine a plant-based accent wall. The wall has vines in natural patterns across the wall. You can also modify the vine into a pattern of your liking by clipping the soft stem with a tack-on.

Make the Boho Room Warm and Inviting

We can create a warm and light effect by replacing the white paint with macrame itself. However, that adds to the warmth only. But how will you add accents?

Without accents, a boho room is nothing like it. So, you need something else: a beautiful fireplace and a white cover around the room. You can also make minor additions to create that feel.

Firstly, you can have a tussled rug to reflect the texture. You can also avail of a handmade rug. You will get one from local handmade artifact sellers. But don’t forget to add other beautiful colors to your room.

You can also add other hand-woven rattan artifacts and top it up with woven decor with an array of baskets. The baskets look just fine alone.

But you can complement the decor with colorful pillow covers for the sofa and textural pillow arrangements.

Another Boho statement decor: light and warm decor

White walls are a constant for a classic boho decor. You can use sheer curtains to create a light effect in the boho decor. The bright white, topped by warm sunlight, makes a lovely effect.

Such summer evenings would be my favorite as well. Wait, there’s more.

You can also flaunt a colorful rug with warm tones mainly. At the same time, you can add more to the texture with rugs. I prefer warm-colored rugs which can capture the sunlight and glow more.

In a warm theme, sleek canary yellow and lightweight furniture would add more effect. In the end, we need a plant to complete the decor. However, a clean and minimalist room does not need a cluster of plants. Instead, we will include one big plant in the corner.

Any plant would do. But we need leafy plants with natural patterns. A mix of yellow and green leaves would add an edge to the decor.

Pink and Orange a Classic Boho Recipe

Boho styles are dominated by orange and pink, among other dominant colors. What we see most commonly are black and white shades. However, the dominant orange also defines boho very well.

Where do we add orange? We can first use orange in portraits. Minimalist orange portraits against white walls are a classic decor you won’t like to miss out on. The other fence or the other half of the same wall can carry a pink photo.

Now the question is- what color will suit the sofa? I have not seen many pink sofas. So, I will bet on orange sofas of personal accord.

Go for it if you think the room will carry pink sofas well. But you should know that among the two colors, one is dominant, and the other is latent in the room decor. So, pick your colors wisely.

Soft and plush, with oversized furnishings

A boho room does not look aesthetic without a tapestry of patterns. But you need to find a pattern that suits the boho decor theme. Don’t include an intense pattern when you apply small living room ideas.

Instead, I would prefer bright colors and simple textures for refined decor. However, the stand-out element will be oversized patterns. Whether rugs, artwork, or tiles, the geometric patterns make everything look fine.

I would personally suggest the Moroccan rugs. I used one for my room. It was lush and fluffy. It made my 12×16 room quite cozy and added a vintage look.

Enjoy Your Boho Rooms

The light and airy rooms are the statement of my boho living room ideas. The other designs may vary. But the primary white would remain constant. So will the ceiling.

You can use decor, style, and color to create the boho effect. Mostly, I find the use of vibrant colors. However, the dominant white theme is always present. That’s the difference between boho and other interior design themes.

The boho living room ideas include the white layout on a compulsory basis. If not white, it could be light gray or macrame. But no deeper color instead.
