How to draw anime girls?

If you are struggling to draw a beautiful anime girl with cute eyes and straight hair, this tutorial will help.

Drawing an anime girl is difficult.  But you can draw even without having any prior skills if you follow these steps. In this article, I have shared all the tips you want to follow a

Step 1: Draw the Top of the Girl’s Head and Center Guideline

Drawing an anime girl isn’t easy. There are many tutorials available on the internet, including more complex ones. However, we have focused on creating something very simple and easy to draw for beginners.

So, start by drawing the upper portion of the head and a center guideline of the head. Typically, the head of an anime character is of an Oval or semi-oval shape. So, start the upper portion by drawing a circle and having a center guideline run through it.

The center line should be tall enough to accommodate the head, neck, and upper portion of the anime girl’s shoulder. The center line here works as a center line, guiding you to create other features of the face and place them evenly on the head/face.

Step 2: Drawing the Bottom of the Head

How to draw anime girls that look beautiful? Beginner artists often find it challenging to draw the jaw lines and the bottom part of the head of their favorite anime character. But there’s a trick to it.

Try drawing a curved line that’s leaning slightly toward the jaw, and then follow through with another pair of lines that connect with each other, creating almost a triangle in the lower portion of the circle.  Once joined, both of these lines help you form the jaw of the face of the anime character you want to draw.

Now, here’s an explanation that you must keep in mind. The lower part of the face has to be slightly smaller, and the upper part has to be bigger and rounder. This type of drawing style gives the anime girls a cute look. It’s one of the key characteristics of anime characters, and most mangakas follow this style.

While you must make the chin part look smaller, don’t make it too small to make the face appear too sharp and odd. Also, avoid drawing short lines and connect them later on. Use confident lines that are sharp and smooth.

Step 3: Draw the Neck

While you draw the neck of a beautiful anime girl, try drawing thin necklines that transition into the neck muscles and shoulder muscles. Next, the neck muscles have to transition into the shoulders.

The neck has to look slender and should complement the head and the facial structure. Yes, we are focusing on drawing a cute anime girl’s face. So, we won’t move down to the other parts of the body.

Step 4: Position the eyes & Place Them

Most expert manga artists use a line to define the eyeliner and the nose line after they have a facial structure. Thanks to the center guideline, it’s easier to separate your eyes and place the nose and the lips properly.

But first, focus on drawing the eye lines where you’ll place the eyes of the anime girl. When positioning the eyes, make sure to place the eyes across the horizontal line that passes through the middle of the head. Doing so will make the head look larger. But that will add to the cuteness of your anime character’s face.

The eyes must have thick upper eyelashes and narrow eyes.

Step 5: Draw the Eyebrows

To give your anime girl character an innocent look, draw the eyebrows slightly above the eyes. Make sure that the eyebrows have slightly raised inner ends.

How to make anime girls look cute? You first have to know the proper placement of different facial features. Here are a few things you need to keep in mind –

  1. First, divide the face into two halves vertically.
  1. The upper half should have the much rounder portion of the head and only the eyebrows.
  1. Divide the lower half into two more halves, and in the first one of them, place the eyes at the uppermost place and the nose point at the lowermost point.
  1. Divide the bottom half into two more halves where you place the lips and the chin line.

While drawing the mouth, don’t make it too big. Just use a small line and give it a slightly downward curve to make it appear slightly better looking. Don’t make the curve too strong; otherwise, you’ll end up with an unhappy look on your anime girl drawing.

Step 6: Drawing the Ears

The upper portion of the ears starts slightly below the upper portion of the eyeline. To give the ears a cute and appropriate shape, don’t draw it bigger than the space between the nose and the eye lines. Since you are drawing an anime girl, the hair will cover the ears. So, there’s no need to force yourself too much to draw the ears.

Step 7: Draw an Anime Girl’s Hair

Now, we come to the part that makes this entire tutorial worthwhile: how to draw anime girl hair. First, start by drawing the larger shapes that make up the hair. Draw the two sides of the hair, the back and the front.

You can go with straight and simple lines to outline the area where the hair will stay. Next, you can go on to styling the hair.

Step 8: Draw the Top and the Bottom of the Hair

Now, draw the top portion of the hair as it goes away from the head. It has to create some sort of split that goes from the forehead and merges around the top of the head. Again, as the hair outline goes further down, it has to pass along the ear lines. Now lock in the end of the hair toward the bottom. You can create shapes of your own choice to make the hairstyle look unique.

Color The Drawing

Now you have your very own anime girl drawing with pretty-looking eyes and silky-smooth hair. The final part is to choose the colors for the hair, eyes, and the skin. You can go ahead and color the entire drawing.

If you want the hair to look cool, leave some white spaces around the head where you want to highlight the hair. But, if you are coloring the hair digitally, you’ll have the option to color it and highlight it later on as you wish.
